Please post more photos of the reverse and bottom of this figure. One photo is not enough. Thanks.

Are you saying the weight is 175 or the cost?
    3. Ambrosia114, 9 years ago
It weighs about 175 pounds. I have no idea what the value is. Only that it's 100% marble and my dad bought it about 15 years ago overseas.

You say this came from a collection of extremely valuable Chinese art and artifacts, then say it was made in Taiwan. Taiwan is 2,100 kilometers from China. Did your father not get any paperwork with this statue when he purchased it?

My father passed away. He was a music producer for many years and then a cardiologist. He spent most his life traveling the world. I have over 3000 items that were in his private collection.

I do not have paperwork on everything, unfortunately. I do have over 40 bankers boxes of unorganized paperwork to sift thru that's in storage in Denver. I'm in northern Minnesota.

I understand where Taiwan and China are located. This statue was in the "China" wing in his home. He was brilliant, therefore this wouldn't have been an error on his placement of it and certainly he also is aware that these are two different countries. Chinese medicine and artifacts of such were of particular interest to him, as a doctor.

He collected things he loved that brought him joy. He didn't purchase items as a means of financial investment.

I was basing my comment on what you wrote in your subject line vs. the descriptive statement area. I don't see how on earth we here can help you find out anything about this statue. There is no information available that can be used as clues/leads. Maybe your father bought it from a private Chinese collector in Taiwan rather than the statue having been sculpted in Taiwan. You wouldn't know the origins without paperwork. The clue to this statue could very well be in one of those banker's boxes.

I'm curious - how do you know it weighs about 175 pounds?

All very Confucious, hey, Bonnie? ;)

Thanks for trying to help, with my little information.

We just moved it to Minnesota from Denver. My nephew carried it and he estimated the weight. He's a weight lifter, so he's comfortable stating that as an estimation.

I can't lift it or even nudge it.

I'll put this one on the back burner for now and shift into a different region.

Attn: Dinosaur egg and B.C. Fossil expert and collectors now wanted! ;-)

Thank you again for your time. You have a great group here.
