I found this little bottle in a pile of dirt that was delivered to our house in Rhode Island. It appears to be pint sized with the name E.C & Sons on it.

I am interested in any information.

    Thanx

Dang. I wish they'd do that to us.
It could be imported from England, as was common back in the 1800s and early 1900s (same time-frame this type of bottle was used) as the English loved making the tops of bottles a different colour than the body.
My best guess is that it's American, though.
It's a stoneware bottle, typical of ginger ale and beers. Don't let someone buy it off of you for $2. Albeit rarely valuable, they're not worthless either.

I myself only have about 1/4th of one, which also turned out to be quite rare (dug it.)
Find out where the dirt was dug and begin your research on it for that town.
Search in Google like, "E. C. $ Sons" "Providence" "Rhode Island"

      & not $, sorry.

Using quotations in Google will tell the search that it must have the words in the quotes in the order written in the quotes.

Thanks, Spirit Bear. I have searched everything that I can think of, but nothing comes up. The hunt continues.

Before the site above changed hands and designs, in which a number of us left, there were a handful of die-hard Rhode Island collectors who may be able to help.

I have a small to middling size stoneware collection, mostly ginger beer bottles, and mostly from the U.K. Your bottle is very attractive, colour is lovely. Can't imagine ordering some top soil and telling the order desk to add a vintage stoneware bottle in with it please.
      Very nice bottle indeed.

The UK is well-known for its Stoneware bottles as being, probably, the most glorious-looking ones around the World. The designs, and even colours, can be absolutely incredible. Few American stoneware pieces compare.
Like the American historical flasks, the British did something similar in stoneware.

All that seems to be known about this bottle is the name is Earl Carpenter and sons. It is a providence RI bottle. The David Gracie books suggests this should be a half pint. I have not found any other info.

      Drmaldonado,
Thank you for the info on my bottle, that is about all that I could find on it too.

It is a cute little thing, so I will keep it and just keep looking.
