This is an example of late period American Cut Glass from around 1915 called by some as the flower period. Though cut glass houses still cut some geometric patterns in this period, many went to the process of a figured blank where part of the pattern was pressed into the blank as in this example, then the flowers and base were cut to finish the piece. This was a much cheaper process than full geometric cutting. Most cutting houses were closed shortly after this period of cut glass as the materials used in making the glass, most notably lead, went to the war effort.
