    Found this piece at estate sale, might not be nothing but around the center bottom looks like glass ran and didn't form right. Was there any defects in the carnival glass.

      looks like a shear mark (aka: straw mark) on the surface of the glass; when the carnival glass treatment was subsequently added the glass defect still shows thru. Shear marks are fairly common for pressed glass. BTW the pattern is Indiana Glass 'Carnival Glass Hostess Plate' c1970s.

      Thank you but I can feel the smear and around in same area looks like paint cracks.

      Does that make the plate less valuable? This is all new to me got a lot of pieces from estate sale

      shear marks can usually be felt on the glass surface but do not significantly impact value
