    Manikin
    (62 items)

I have several sheets of these homemade paper dolls . They show the fashions well of the 40's and were made at a time of WWII . Very well done and took lots of works to design these clothes and she was very creative . These were mailed to someone in this envelope. A second set is on such large paper they won't upload

In the 1940 census James H Cochran lived at this address with his wife Norma, son Norbert & 9 year old daughter Halcyon Cochran.
I would guess that Halcyon was the intended recipient of these precious gifts.

Thank you Bro ! Great research I just got the email and photo . I would say your 100% correct the 9 year old was given these by sender . Amazing they were never played with not a wrinkle in them . She must have just looked at them and admired the clothes . xo

      You're welcome Sis!
      How did you acquire these?
    12. Manikin Manikin, 9 years ago
Oh boy I have had them at least 20 years my guess is I got them at auction or from another dealers booth when we had antique shop Bro . Used to go to local auctions to stock our booth and I would keep some things that I liked :-)

Do you see return address area says Queen and on one dress the maker of these uses that name on dress along with I suspect her friends names .
    14. Celiene Celiene, 9 years ago
HC is on two of the dresses. Halcyon - what a GREAT name! Norbert? Poor kid!

Halcyon Cochran (married John Robert) Peterson died on 6/26/2013 after living in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. Got perfect grades in 1950. Graduated University of Colorado in 1953. Had a son, Rand Evan (53) & maybe another Donald.

Tried again searching Sydney Queen, no luck.
As it's written in pencil I wonder if it was done at another time.

Would be nice to know who sent it bro but maybe I could find the little girls family from clues and send it to them
    21. walksoftly walksoftly, 9 years ago
Her family enjoy having something from their Mother or possibly Grandmothers past.
I asked my mother yesterday if she played with paper dolls & she had & explained how much fun she had designing the outfits & then playing with them.
