Hello Fellow Collectors. The other day I posted several "Railroad" approved pocket watch. There were several rules and regulation set in place for Timepieces to be Railroad approved. Here's is an example of the Santa Fe Railroad to keep track of wither employee's timepiece was up to standards.
    Thanks for looking,
    Kerry

Well, how about that? I had no idea that the railroad had to approve an employee's pocket watch. Very cool and I've learned something new today!

Scott, after so many train wrecks in the 1980's, The Railroads adopted a Standard time regulations set up by Webster Ball, I posted some of the highlights in this post:

      Kerry,
I just finished reading thru the links you sent me. So, would my Elgin watch have been RR approved?

Oops!! Nevermnd, I just read the data that you posted to my watch and it says it is not railroad grade.

Scott, lol, all good, there were pieces that went through a complete "adjustment" program and stamped on the movement as such

I have a modern Seiko quartz movement watch that says "Railroad Approved" right on the dial. Even modern watches have to meet certain specs for railroad use.

I just got my antique wood Kitchen (Mantle) clock working the other day! I finally tried to turn the right hand square in the opposite direction (duh!) it's been working ever since. My time piece story...

LOL Celiene, I know how that stuff turns out, congrats on a great story and working clock.
@ pajrr, yes Modern R/R still require "Time" schedules, the brand name "Ball Standard" watches today are Swiss and quartz also and I have had a few Seiko's when working for CNW and they're great pieces

I have a friend who collects and restores railroad pocket watches--Hamilton, Ball, Springfield, etc. He has some drop dead gorgeous pieces. He is a qualified steam engineer and he puts his watches in service when he runs.
