My find today at a local house clearance sale for 5 bucks. I got there too late (didn't even hear about it until 1:15 pm) and this was the only thing left worth buying! It was on the floor, next to a table, and I think it went unnoticed. Very heavy - almost 4 1/2 pounds. There are a few very small paint loss chips, nothing that I can't repair. The bottom is covered in original green felt. There is a whole lot of nothing to find on the web about it aside from info listed on eBay.
Year? Not a clue. Who designed/manufactured the decanter? Dunno.
And, it is still full of brandy....
Thanks for looking, CW friends!
Definitely worth buying! At least you can drink brandy and still have this funny cool decanter :-D
How fascinating! You didn't find any info on liquor auction sites? I found out about a wine bottle from a site that sells vintage bottles of wine. The other route might be to investigate monasteries, if necessary through the Vatican, as they must have records.
Hah, wait! I looked at the photo with the tag first, then at the first photo. Don't think that decanter would be associated with a monastery! :))
Kath, lol!
I love the bottle Bonnie! Here are some for sale that I found: http://www.vibbo.com/salamanca/botella-brandy-reserva-del-monasterio/a78720066/?ca=0_s&st=a&c=26 http://www.todocoleccion.net/botellas-antiguas/botella-brandy-reserva-monasterio-d-campewy-vin-138~x48279876 http://www.todocoleccion.net/antiguedades/escultura-fraile-losa~x52289425
@katherine - LOL! I Googled the info listed on the label in a number of different ways. The ones for sale are the only ones I found. No fascinating info on the winery, either.
@Rick55 - thanks for the websites. I wish there was some actual info on this funny creation. How old is it? Who manufactured the decanter for the winery? Nada zip zero!
Sorry Bonnie I overlooked listing the company... It's called " Destilerias Campeny".
Here are some pics and I assume links to some of their other bottles: https://www.google.com/search?q=Brandy+Destiler%C3%ADas+Campeny&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiumN-y96LKAhWCthoKHdkRApAQsAQIHw&biw=1536&bih=740#imgrc=_
Hi Rick - I recognize some of those other bottles...tacky, lol!
