    We picked this hammer up at an estate auction. It was in an old wood toolbox. The handle does look like it might have been replaced, but we just can't figure out what this hammer might have been used for since the tongs curve completely back past the handle. . .

      Only thing I can think of is, that maybe it was used to work something hot, then pick it up with the opening. Just spitballing here.

      the face/neck looks like an upholstery hammer; one similar but less extreme is noted as a Rams Horn Hammer:

      This is an embarasingly clear example of over breeding. In the wild, this hammer would not have survived.
