ATTWOOD
(155 items)
This great wood carved stand was purchased at auction yesterday by my hubby. He collects tribal artefacts. It is 42 inches high and is made from one piece of wood.
I can not find any carvings like it.
Can anyone help with wood type, provinence etc.
Thanks in advance
Cheers Rose
I hope I have it incorrect category
The monkey has his head looking to the side and is holding a human head in outstretched arms
Whilst I was told pacific region I am leaning towards Malaysia. The monkey body has wings and the tail of what appears to be a crocodile.I thought a mythalogical creature but why is he holding a head?
Thanks for thee love.Any ideas?
Cheers Rose
Still no idea where or who this guy is!
We have returned from Papua new Guinea and found this guy in a smaller version on Doini Island, unfortunately he only spoke pidgeon English and when we asked what was the animal with wings his reply yes.Smaller....oh well at least origin is now known.
The wood carvers of PNG are equisite craftsmen.Hubby bought a crocodile home with us.About 3 feet long.
Took the man 3 months to make.so detailed in every way
