Ridgeway tempus fugit grandfather/grandmother clock head or top. Movement is in excellent condition but I don't know the age or model of this clock. I'm not a clock expert so I need help. The numbers on back of the movement are 4844. It reads in the corner: Gravely furn. Co. Inc. Martinsville VA USA. Made in Germany.

      Hi Robin.
This is an interesting piece you're sharing with us.

It seems that Ridgeway Grandfather Clocks began as the Gravely Furniture Company in 1926. They started producing Grandfather Clocks exclusively in 1960. See: See: http://www.grandfatherclocks123.com/ridgeway_grandfather_clocks.html

Ridgeway is still in business. You should try to contact them to see if they are able and willing to help. See http://www.ridgewayclocks.com/

Thanks for sharing and good luck with your research.

Thanks Bruce99! I have tried contacting them but I need a serial number for them.

Could they tell you where to look for it, or does you clock just not have one?

They said that without a serial number they really could only guess it to early 1900s to 1960s.

I looked all over even taking off the back panel again. 4844 pl85cm are the only numbers on the clock

Well, we know that Ridgeway/Gravely didn't start until 1926. "Tempus Fugit" (or Time Flies) became popular in the 1960's so without more information my guess would be circa 1965 give or take 10 years but that's just a guess. Hopefully someone more familiar with Ridgeway Clocks will come along. Do you have a photo of the entire clock or do you just have the top? Good luck.

I only have the top. Thought it was a mantle clock.

My clock is a Ridgeway from 1973 (I believe) and it looks close to yours ,Model 144. search for models between 120 and 300 and i think you'll find it
