I have come across E. Hudson signature once about two years ago. It was dated 1928 and was available on the action. http://www.the-saleroom.com/fr-fr/auction-catalogues/capes-dunn/catalogue-id-srcap10025/lot-0e563789-9ff2-49c6-814e-a4300156b54a

The signature does not look the same. This is clearly a later piece (That artists board is I'd guess 1950's-60's) , maybe the signature evolved? This signature is a feminine hand, IMO.

It is actually difficult to compare signatures since they depend on the type of the media. One on canvas will not look the same as on paper, etc. I am not saying it is definitely the same hand and I am not even familiar with either one, I just shared what ever little info I had on it :) I wish someone would do the same with my mystery :)

I think this is painted by my grandmother Evelyn Hudson

P1angel,please give e some information on painting. Was your grandmother famous?

Unfortunately not on a "grand" scale(atleast that I know of. She owned her i guess it would be considered a gallery in the late 70's early 80's where she sold her paintings. She would occasionally offer a day she would teach to paint and i remember people would be standing in line out the door hoping for a seat before they were all filled. So there may be more to her story than i know.I wish i could attach samples of her signature here from some of the MANY paintings i have of hers in my home as well as in storage

I know she painted way early than the 70's&80's.That's just my earliest memories as a little girl of her painting.
