    Didn;t know what this was at first. Egg topper from the early 1900's Silver plate I believe. It was my Great Grandmothers. ;) I am not sure if it coming apart is by design or in need of a fix. A simple one peg hinge design.

      I think the come apart system is original, not a damage, and intended construction for thoroughly clean it of any egg remaining :-)

      As surgical devices aren't fixed and come apart for sterilisation :-)
