This pendant / brooch set in very beautiful Sterling silver is made in millefiori technique.
Millefiori glass techniques you could call it sibling Micro mosaic.
This is often referred to as Micro Mosaic and it also has many similarities. The main difference is that it is made of slices or canes of colored glass in flower designs. Micro Mosaic Decorated with many small adjacent pieces (tesserae or inlaid varicolored glass o Stone arranged to form a picture or design.
Mosaic work in jewelry was of two types: ROMAN or BYZANTINE mosaic, with the tesserae made of glass set into molten glass and fused together and FLORENTINE mosaic - VENETIAN Mosaic made of slices of colored glass canes.
Millefiori the Italian name (literally) for a thousand flowers. A style of ornamented glass made from slices of canes of colored glass embedded in clear glass and cannetilles.
The style was known in Alexandria from the 3rd century BC and in Rome in the 1st century AD, bit it was so called only after it was revived and modified at Venice in the 6th century. Such Millefiori slices have been used to decorate as in this case some articles of jewelry , especially at Venice.
The chain, setting of the brooch/pendant and bracelet were made in a wonderful of decorated little dots. That once again I could not resist.
I hope you see the resemblance with Mosaic.

Lovely pieces. Those little florets on the settings are often called "cannetille".
