This great book chronicles the history of Springfield motorcycles from the Company;s origins, until about 1984 when this 4th edition was published.
It is a really great historical treatise, and has insights into how business works, and is full of technical data on Indian motorcycles. There are also many great photos and reproduced ads augmenting the text.
The new Indians are works to be behold, but if i could find an original one, I'd be ecstatic.
Indians, BMWs, and the Zundapps from old Germany are my favorite motorcycle brands!

Hi, Kerry…thank you! Well, you, I and countless others feel the same!
My uncle had one. Following WWII's end, his discharge point was in CA. He had enough to get an Indian 4, and rode with a bunch of his fellow ex-soldiers back to his home in Buffalo. There's probably more to this story, as you can imagine!
You're welcome, and I bet so...lots more :-)
Right, Kerry…there is a lot more to that story :) :) :)
Thank you, Nicefice…it is quite an interesting book!
