Trusty Rusty was my first knife. I got it when I was a Cub Scout, was about 8 or 9. It wasn't a gift just something I ended up with, just an old knife no one cared about.
It wasn't actually rusty it is made from carbon steel which tends to turn black. Holds a great edge which explains why I cut myself on it now and then.
The can opener takes a pair of pliers to open while the 2 1/2" blade is very loose. I am thinking it is 1950s. It is in the curio display table now.
That's really great that you still have your first pocket knife. I can't even hang onto pocket knives that I bought last year!
Good old trusty rusty
Lub it up my friend
Thank you very much Scott. There are a few more things I would have on to had I known they would be valuable.

Thank you SEAN68.
NICE! But those dang nail-breaking can openers!!!
Thank you very much NevadaBlades. Yes this one will break your nails before it opens.
YIKES! Ouch!
Cool, looks like a Hammer Brand knife. What does the tang stamp say? If you will do a bit of cleaning to it, you should no longer have a stuck or hard to open cap lifter/screwdriver blade. A little gun oil or fem oil and it should start opening up easier.
Actually meant to type Rem oil.
Thank you very much Signaholic and it is indeed a Hammer Brand knife. Very had to read but it does say "Hammer Brand". Apparently the last ones were made 1955 which makes it a bit on the older side.
I do have some gun oil. Thank you again.
Looks like an edit is in order to revise the description.
