Hi CW Gang:
I will be posting a Series of old pics ( well-pic Slides ) of a Small town Rural Agricultural Fair. These pictures /photos are from the year 1974. I know sometimes we questions the content of Photos being posted here on CW....But Photos are not just the items themselves ....IT IS THE IMAGE, the ERA, the HISTORY that they captured of a time gone by. Not every collectible is something you can *hold* in your hand. Sometimes it is just the History and the story behind it. Small towns had these back then. Fairs like this one ( held in a town with a population of about 100) -- Would have about 4000 people that passed through the Gate for one day -- as it was only a One day Fair.
Anyways.....I will be posting a series of Photos to show what Rural Fairs would be like. They had many events such as:
~ Judging Horses, cattle
~ Trick Horse Riders
~ 4H Judging of Breeds
~ Bingo
~ Ball Throw ( knock the Cats down )
~ Gambling Wheel and a Jewelry Spin Wheel
~ Balloons, Engravering Jewelry bought at the Fair
~ Horse Shoes Games / Event / Challenge
~ Baseball Games / Team Challenges
~ Tractor Pulling
~ BEER GARDENS .....lol....Hiccup....LOL
~ Hot Dog / Hamburger Stand
~ Decorated Kids Bike Contest
~ Big Draft Horses Challenge - Dressage
~ Big Horse Wagon Rides ( 1 Ticket )
~ Fiddling Contest
~ Homemade Midway Ride ( one only )
~ Selling of Farming products Displays
~ Grandstand show with Local Talent ( Band )
~ Hall Exhibits /Competition / Judging of things like: Baking, Cooking, Photography, Wood Working, Knitting, Embroidery, Pies, Oil painting, Sketching, Jelly Rolls, home-made pickles, jam ( as people made their own stuff back then), Crops samples ( Sheaf's of Grain cut at root) wrapped, School work judging of writing, poerty, Art, Posters......ETC, ETC
Anyways -- you get the idea. Every rural place used to have these but they are a thing of the past. This one is all gone now and just part of history. All that remains of this era .............are the Photos.
Anyhow -- I hope you enjoy. More pics to come!!
Thanks for LOOKING / LOVING IT !!
