    Here are 19 photos which show the destruction of a large earthquake in Southern California - Long Beach area - in 1933. Apparently it was one of the most severe temblors on record at that time, and i had never even heard of that one. very surprising!

      My grandparents told me about that one. You can see how the old buildings have been reinforced since then. Biggest one I felt was the Sylmar quake.

      that's cool fortapache. the biggest one i felt was Loma Prieta. the ceiling in my office caved in and we ran out onto 14th st [now international blvd] and watched the quake come in waves up the street. i was working at the American Indian Friendship House at the time.
