Here are 19 photos which show the destruction of a large earthquake in Southern California - Long Beach area - in 1933. Apparently it was one of the most severe temblors on record at that time, and i had never even heard of that one. very surprising!
thanks brunswick!
My grandparents told me about that one. You can see how the old buildings have been reinforced since then. Biggest one I felt was the Sylmar quake.
that's cool fortapache. the biggest one i felt was Loma Prieta. the ceiling in my office caved in and we ran out onto 14th st [now international blvd] and watched the quake come in waves up the street. i was working at the American Indian Friendship House at the time.
