Bentwood, folk art, log cabin smoking stand. This one is in great shape, hand made of twig construction and decorated with hand painted detailing accents and an arrow- through- a- heart motif. Probably made in the early 1900s. The lid of the log cabin lifts off, which is where cigarettes were stored. There is also a small piece of wood on the left hand side on which a box of matches may have been placed and a round area on the right for an ashtray.
How very interesting! I really love this!
Same as Scott :-D
Very nice find, surely a love gift, with the arrow piercing heart (unless it is native American, lol!)
jscott, Thank you!
kyra, Guess it could be native American :)
I today saw one that I had to look twice at in the antique store. I froze because I had just seen it here the day before, then realising it was fairly different but oh-so similar. Fascinating thing.
SpiritBear, Thank you for your comment. This is the only one that I have ever seen around here. It does not really go well with my other things but I loved it and had to bring it home. I especially love the heart with the arrow.
Yours is more ornate. such as with the heart and arrow. Theirs was more, shall we say, of serious design rather than personal.
Thank you! Please post a photo!
