      Part of a bar clamp.

A wooden bar would have been inserted in the slot. The passive end of the clamp is of course missing.

Seeker, is that what you call the floating piece on the ball-end of a clamp ? When growing up in N. AL, that was called a "considibble" (Not to be confused with an "identifit"). When I lived in S. AL, they were called, "that thar squar thingy". Here in the islands, Seeker, the last thing it's called, is : "Passive end". Just having fun with you !
