Just scored these guys at auction and wanted to share. I know they're a great score, but don't know their exact worth. These little buggers are SUPER hard to find. I know they're not in the "best" of shape, but I am still very excited about these guys :D

Finally, a post that I can share that I don't need an identification for. lol

I have not had one in my collection but always thought I would buy one someday . I love them ! They are not common to find and and also the big bad wolf . Very nice I am in love :-) The pigs came wearing dress's or pants . I have the military dolls by Ralph A. Freundlich. He did other storybook characters . Their dolls were not made of high quality composition and often did not hold up well Anyway I want a pig doll :-) Great post and fun for me to see today

You are the best Manikin! Thank you. :D

To be honest, I am debating on whether or not to sell one and keep one or sell them both together on eBay. I am thinking the former of the two, I'd really like to keep one for myself. Ideally, I'd love to keep them both, but I bought them with the intention of selling at least one, and it's probably going to happen. (I'm bad, I really don't want to part with them. Woe is me.) :'(

Anyways, these little guys did not come with any clothing and I am thinking of making little outfits as accurate to the originals, as possible (with antique fabric). I'll clean these guys up a bit (very carefully, of course), restring them and I'm most likely going to touch up the eyes on the pig on the left, but that's it-- I want to leave them as original as possible. The good news is, I think they'll both clean up rather nicely.

Are you a good artist ? Doing eyes can be hard . If your talented you should touch them up on the one but if selling you might let new owner do it ? You just keep finding treasures :-) don;t clean them with water ok

I live in a brick house so he would be safe here <wink > no wolf can blow it down !

Well, as far as artistic ability is concerned... I graduated with a Bachelor's in Fine Art from the Rhode Island School of Design. I figure: it's probably better for me to correct it, than someone else... I've seen some horrible "restorations" lately and I'm certainly not going to let that happen to this little guy.

Oh, speaking of terrible "restoration" work: I've been buying dolls that have had atrocious "repair" work (because they're much cheaper that way), and fixing their battle-wounds. lol. Recently, I bought this Armand Marseille doll, and let me tell you... the shoulder plate repair was done in bondo, about 1 inch thick and looked like bread dough. Oh... that was fun. Had to saw it off and take the rest of with a dremel tool. When I finish her, I'll post a "show and tell" with the before and after pics. (lol. Felt like sharing this little story. Sorry, ADHD.)

Just curious, what do you recommend for cleaning composition? Water is compo's worst nightmare/arch nemesis. Oy vey.

I have made up my mind and I am, indeed, selling just one in a few weeks and keeping the other <wink>. I'm most likely keeping the one on the right for myself.

Btw, something tells me that you might welcome the wolf in... hrm... lol.

Also, should I make replica outfits for both? That's the real question. It will take more time to source the right fabric and put it all together. I may just let the one I sell be "nude". Choices, choices...
    11. Manikin Manikin, 9 years ago
No Big Bad Wolf here lol . I would say make one to keep in a outfit but sell the other nude since they are not original clothes won't help price much as he has condition issues anyway .

      very cool!

Gah, I am already having reservations about selling one. This is going to be very difficult. I mean, I'm definitely going to do it (I'm pretty sure). Yet, my brain is like: "they're already hard enough to find, as it is... but two? That's closer to a whole set than one (and also, extremely lucky)". Of course, I keep telling myself that if I did happen to amass a complete set (wolf included), that I'd have to probably sell the set all together anyways-- then I'd have none. Unfortunately, these guys weren't cheap (they weren't expensive either, technically they were a steal for what they are), but my pockets are rather shallow and, well...

I don't know if anyone else here are dealers (probably), but does anyone else ever have a hard time selling things that they find? I'll have no problem selling "human" dolls, but it's the "humanoid" (part animal, part human) and strange ones that I am very partial to.

Yes, and I sometimes regret selling an item I care personally about. Strange the things we become attached to that we intended to sell. I have an Avon stuffed bear that sat in a storage room all dirty, cleaned him up, now I can't part with him. If there's no hurry to sell, keep your rare treasures and admire them.

I have regretted selling somethings in past and yes I have a hard time picking what I might need to sell when I buy something new I usually part with something . But I pick up something I will sell then put it back sayin' another day :-) Well it stays lol
I have things that I don't relate to that are easy to sell . If you love them keep them both and decide someday which means I am probably going to keep . Only you can decide but don't do it if you have a question in your mind to regret days later :-)
    16. Msriss86, 9 years ago
I have made my decision, and I have chosen to sell one pig. However, I have set the price pretty high (regardless of condition issues). That's the only way I can justify selling one of these guys. If someone wants to buy it for that price, then so be it-- I will sell it... If not, then that's fine by me. That's the best solution that I could come up with for my dilemma.
