This is a very big old desk. I bought is for my husband 20 years ago and it wouldn't fit through the door! The top height is about 4 1/2 feet tall, about 5 feet wide and over 3 feet deep! I think the wood is pine. The slanted top is one solid piece of wood and is attached by irregular dowells that are not uniform. The hardware is not original, the complex lock sets on the drawers that probably went with original hardware. All of the wood constriction is heavy thick and solid. I think it is either Scandanavian or very early american.
Do you know how tall 4 1/2 feet is? The desk would be chest high for an average person. A standard desk is 29.5 inches. You are talking almost double that. You are correct about it being pine. Showing more of the construction would be helpful. Drawers etc.
I went out and measured it. My mistake it is 4' tall, 5'3 1/2" wide and 33" deep. The site only allowd 4 photos. I can send you more photos but cant upload more.
Thanks for your reply :)

So you are telling us that from the floor to the top of the desk it is 48 inches. I find that hard to believe for any desk. The large drawers in this desk appear to be standard 8 inch drawers with a 3 inch and a two inch drawer above them. If you have a 4' tall desk then you have an oddity. However your first picture defies that compared to the background.
It is an oddity and I wish I knew more about it :) I reposted the desk with my Cadillac Escalade beside it to give some scale. Thank you for your interest and comments! They are appreciated!
