Basic Metal stamping by Al's Cycle Shops. Windsor. This is near the beginning of Lincoln Toys history. This is one of the first stamped steel trucks made for Lincoln Specialties between 1946-1948. The earliest Lincolns were made by Ellwoods of Tilbury, Ontario and Al's Cycle Shops , Windsor, Ontario and appear in 1947 Christmas catalogues. Only a few models were available for the first couple of years, but by 1953 there were 24 truck models available. Eventually hard times due to increased cost and imported cheaper plastic toys, Lincoln closed shop in 1959 and is known that Li'l Beaver Toys, a division of Irwin Toy Company, used tooling to create pressed steel trucks until the late 1960's.

Very nice. Do you know what year they started using the Lincoln decal?

the ellwoods have made for Lincoln on their tag. None of the Al's have this as far as I know. Might be around 53 when the product line was expanded, but need to do much more research. I have run out of new literature and people to consult, so I have to forage ahead on luck to learn anything new. This could take years, as their is no one left that worked at the factories, or any new paperwork to be found. Guess It will be finding more toys and seeing how it goes. It does keep me busy. : )
