I have this huge sterling silver dressing spoon ..I cannot find the country for the top hallmark..I thought it might be Glasgow, I believe the spoon is pre or just at turn of the 18th-19th century..Id be grateful for any help. If I could figure out the country then I'm sure I can research the rest without a hitch...So far my book, and online encyclopedia of silver hallmarks has not given me any info....thanks!!

      Hi, welcome to CW :-)
I found your mark in my "Tardy poinçons d'argent" book!
      (Pages 303 to 305)

      Norway

      Town and year: Bergen

The mark with B and w under is for the assayer dating 1812/1821

The entwined initials are probably the maker's

What looks like a H is the symbol for zodiacal Pisces sign and gives the month of making: 18th February to March 20th.
      Can't find the last one...

You can upload up to 4 pics, it would be lovely to see the whole beautiful spoon!

Thanks for the thanks! You can mark it as solved :-)
Forgot to add the first mark is for year 1817, Bergen!
So it was made between 18 February and 20 March 1817 !!! That is a fantastic system for hallmarks the Norwegians had!

Kyratango .. I looked at the mark..and you are so right..so many thanks! I've added some photos. Its a bit difficult to get the whole thing in one shot. Its one of the largest basting spoons Ive seen in a while; just over 16" long... I kept thinking Danish..what a great help...SOLVED :)
