Just wondering what I have.
This egg is huge at 47cm high, that's 18 1/2 ". It has no markings on the bottom and parts of it are quite beautiful and it has a wonderful crackle all through the background of the geisha girls. Originally, I thought it was all handpainted because the images on back and front had slight differences, but after I looked closely at the photos, I think I see some evidence of transfers, with overpainting by hand.
Then, close to the bottom edge, I found a 'seam' (see photo) that didn't seem quite right. All the gold dots on red background are raised and very precise and its very nicely done.
If anybody can tell me what I have, I would be most interested to know.
