We came across these chairs a local estate sale and was wondering if anyone can identify them. The chairs are quite unique and appear to have been partially reframed on the underside and reupholstered in a heavy Floral Tapestry fabric. They are solid oak construction with ornate hand carved embellishments with hand carved side panels depicting 4 individual religious scenes with no two alike. In addition 2 hand carved bishop figures appear in the lower front areas of the front rails. The detailed carved panels are each unique detailed one of a kind in design and were referred to as bishops chairs. We were told they were from circa 1909 or so.
If anyone is familiar with this design, origin ete, an information would be greatly appreciated.

Did you ever find your answer to where this came from? I have a set that matches this and was wondering too where it is from.
