This was one of my first antiques bought over 22 years ago in Waynesville, Ohio at the Sauerkraut Festival. I found this beautiful fire extinguisher in one of there antique stores. It's all copper with a brass name plate. I'm sure someone put some kind of finish on it because it has never tarnished in all the years I've had it. It's a nice conversation piece in the living room.

It's truly beautiful. I have a similar one (not pretty and shiny, though) that came from a hotel my great grandfather built in 1901. Does yours have a date?

Thank you destiny.g.v.! Also thank you Jackie for the nice compliment! I will have to look for the date. :-)

I recently acquired two of these things and am thinking about polishing one to look like yours - they certainly are eye-catchers when buffed up like that! I also like the patina-aged tarnish look as well so I'm always torn on the subject of polishing.

It would certainly have a lacquer coat on it to keep it looking that way. In my research on the polishing process I've learned it has to go directly for lacquer after being polished in order to preserve the superb shine that yours has.

Here's some good 2-part videos on the professional polishing process. They say it took 1.5 hours and it's quite an amazing transformation:

This is truly awesome offiicialfuel!! I love theses old fire extinguishers. My brother found one, very similar, in a home he bought and restored many years ago. He had it restored and keeps it beside of his unused fireplace. Yours is a really great show piece!!

Just curious to know if you've unscrewed the top to determine if the glass soda bottle, gravity plug, and metal bracket is still intact?
