Part of my Loetz "Orpheus" collection. Olympia ground with light blue nippled prunts. All glow under UV light. Circa 1904. All in excellent condition.
1) Two handled vase with two prunts. PN-II 1004. Fire polished rim with ground and polished pontil. 6" tall. I'm lucky enough to have two of these — one, however, has a small stress fracture on one of the handles.
2) Bulbous vase with three prunts. PN-II 1144. Cut rim and no pontil. 3.75" tall.
3) Cylinder pedestal vase with four prunts and applied blue rim. Possibly PN-II 947. Applied rim with ground and polished pontil. 5" tall.
All of these are examples of Orpheus without threads. Presently, I only have one threaded Orpheus piece. I'll post that later.
Wow, you found the PN for the handled one (wonder where that came from?) sorry about the stress fracture but you know how that goes! Great collection.
very very beautiful!!
Thank you, Dan. I actually found an identical one without the fracture about a week after getting yours. I like having both and the stress fracture doesn't bother me. It's over 100 years old, I think it's entitled to a little stress fracture.
Thank you, Sean!
Your very welcome John!!
Very Nice.
lovely indeed...the colours are beautiful and the group looks divine
Wow! I love your Orpheus collection. Great combination of shapes that really show off your collection.
Thank you all!
More great pieces.
