I've been looking though old vintage Weiss jewelry ads hoping to find the name of or collection that matches the large brooch I posted the other day. To my complete surprise I found this ad featuring my last name ! All jokes aside because I've heard them all before believe me. Teased relentlessly as a child and then later in high school when you know who made that particular movie. Yes, I have a cousin named Linda but it's not that fictitious one. She really had a cross to bear poor girl. She worked at a hospital and paging her over the intercom was a bit of a problem. So they got special permission to use "Miss Linda" instead. My Mom would go to the stores and clerks would remark about our name on the credit card. Some would say what a pretty name. Others would bring up the movie with a nervous giggle and the "any relation to" line. My mom was very quick to let them know she was not amused. Awkward !! So my goal is to try and track one of these down for Valentine's Day. I know I can grab one from Ebay but I'm hoping to find one in the wild. On with the hunt ! -Mike-

I do hope you can find it! I can only imagine what you went thru on the last name. An old friend of mine had the last name "Pigg". But, the friends of mine that got the most teasing are named Judy, Shirley and Connie, all men.

Thanks so much Mani :)....the one that's on Ebay is the same price as the Etsy one so that seems to be the average so far. Love Ruby Lanes site but their prices always seem a bit steep. I just finished my rounds nothing in the jewelry dept. today. I went back to Savers to look at the other large rhinestone pieces and they were all gone :( I know some of those must have been Weiss pieces as well. All I came home with today was a 1967 version of the game "Kerplunk"...lol

Thanks Scott.....oh well what's in a name away...lol. I would get called Dr. Loveless all the time too after the character in the old "Wild Wild West " series. I think that annoyed me more because everyone always mispronounced it because of that show. I'd always have to spell it out for people every time I had to give my last name for anything. L..a..c...e..not L...e...s..s :P

lol...Thanks Val....I had heard she passed away just a couple of years ago though. I used to tell my Dad I was going to change my name when I got old enough. My name could have just as well been Faulkner but my Dad and his brothers never took their stepfathers name after my Grandmother remarried although he offered. So a famous writer or porn star....fate is so cruel...lol. Never new my Grandpa Lovelace or my Grandpa Faulkner as I was only three when he died. It was just always Grandma Faulkner on my Dad's side. I did have both Grandparents in my Mom's side though. Family names and histories are interesting for sure !

Hopefully he wasn't one of the "infamous" ones and just an ordinary guy caught up in such a sad moment in history.

We actually moved here from Michigan in 64' Mani. My Dad worked for the FAA and got transferred from Detroit to Oberlin Ohio. My Grandma lived in Detroit on West Grand Blvd. and was in the thick of the 60's riots there. So after that they moved to Dearborn in the late 60's early 70's. Her house on the Blvd. is still there. I even Google Earth'd it and it doesn't look too bad after all these years.
