The store were I found this took over a year to price so that I could afford it. I have always been drawn to decanters. It was only when I had my new place that I could really collect them and of course. The graphics on this are very nice. There is information about the bottle on the bottom, but I deleted in error.
Bing Crosby ?
Hello,
Here is more info about it.
It's Bing Crosby's 30th Monterey Peninsula National Pro-Am commemorative Jim Beam decanter. Bourbon collectors, golf collectors, this is a really cool piece. The Crosby Clam Bake grew over the years from a small private celebrity-laden charity event with a few touring pros in 1937 to it's current multi-million dollar PGA event - known as the AT&T Celebrity Pro-Am.
The commemorative piece was made and sold in 1971, the tournament was suspended during the WWII years so the 30th Anniversary was actually 34 years after the first event. The bottle has a great ocean view scene on one side and Bing's 30th under an impression of the man himself smoking a pipe and swinging a club on the other. This bottle stands about 13" high. It's cork is adorned with a golf ball pull on the top. The bottle has a nice off-white opalescent sheen.
Bing Crosby was a very good amateur golfer. This event brought together some of the most famous golfers and celebrities of the day...and it continues in that tradition. Sam Snead won the first pocketing a cool $500 as the winner.
