I bought this at an estate auction about 15 years ago. The only reason I even went to the auction with my husband that day was to buy some oil & gas signs, but they were quickly forgotten when I saw this. I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it! My husband thought I was crazy because it's so heavy and tall...and we didn't bring the box trailer. But, I didn't care. I had to have it. It has stood in the corner of the living room ever since.
I would love to have another one for the other corner. So, for the past 2 years I have searched for one. I have found a few similar ones, but they did not have a light at the top. I have only found 2 others just like mine, but sadly their owners would not part with them and offered to buy mine. I tried to find out as much information about this pole from them as I have absolutely no clue. I was told they wee only made for a short time because they were "bulky and heavy". It's approx. 84 inches tall and weighs over 100 pounds.
If anyone could send or tell me where I might find any information about these poles, I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you very much!!!
I have never seen a barber pole like that but I'm looking mostly at your petroliana collection anyways LOL
Lots of cool stuff. I'm a big fan of anything old and unique. Your pole fits both those catagories! Very cool
