I had gotten a tip from fellow CW member valentino97 that I should check the designer scarves at Savers which is were I found the red Weiss brooch from a few posts back. Well I didn't see anything at Savers but this Prada scarf was hanging out at Volunteer's of America last Friday. As luck would have it there was no price on it so I couldn't buy it. The cashier said it might take a half an hour or more before it went though production and hit the sales floor again. So I went back Saturday and Sunday nothing. I figured once it was priced it was long gone since it obviously advertises itself. Then today I found it hanging in the men's dept. with their scarves instead of women's. I guess it could be a man's scarf for under a top coat. It's long at 60" but it's only 9" wide. Cut at an angle at each end. Looks to be very nice silk too. It was really wrinkled so I had to carefully press it. Ironing silk is a pain but I covered it with a tea towel so it was all good. There are some runs and the mark from the anti theft clip on the edge, but you really don't notice them unless you're looking for them. So it's in good worn vintage condition. I've seen some of the prices and I was very happy this didn't get away. Just hope it isn't a knock off. Nothing online exactly like it but this logo pattern appears on some of their other square scarves. A new collection brewing...well maybe or maybe not. -Mike-
is there a Prada Tag as well ? all Prada products do have a tag.

very close but not the same !!
Unfortunately no Sean I did check before I bought it though. Sometimes the thrift stores cut them off. So does that mean it's a fake ?
Do the edges look hand rolled or sewn by machine? Prada tags are sewn into the corners of these scarves. One would have to be very careful in removing this sort of tag.

Oh boy Bonnie it's not looking good. The edges are stitched but very thin and fine. I have an Elizabeth Roma scarf with rolled edges so I know what it should look like. Not out a lot if it's a dud, just a bruised ego...lol.
LOL!! Mike , I love the beginning of your title to your posting!! I gotten a chuckle of this.. regardless it is still a very beautiful scarf!!
Thanks Sean .....Well I had to save face a little bit before too many people looked at this post...lol. :)
Oh well, we win some and we lose some! Been there, done that.... :-)
Yeah this pretty much ends my designer scarf phase though. I'll stick to what I know from now on . :)
Your very welcome Mikelv85!!
It looks hand rolled to me Mike and I would wonder why a knock off would need an electronic tag. Whatever, it is wonderful and should be worn with your top coat through this winter.
Thanks Karen :)....but it is a stitched flat seam... :(. I've noticed that any of the clothes they feel are designer or labeled at the thrifts have the anti-theft tags. So I'm not 100% sure this is or isn't a real Prada scarf but I'll still give it the benefit of the doubt. Not finding one online to compare it too makes me wonder. I'm sure they would have made at least a few so one would pop up online for comparison. Top coat and this scarf...waaay too formal and not me at all ...lol .
I'm pretty sure it's silk Lisa although no tags to verify it. I have an Elizabeth Roma scarf that is tagged 100% silk and it's no where near this sheen or as nice to the touch. It has the rolled edge everyone was asking about. The pattern is an Equestrian theme with a saddle and riding crop with nice gold medallions along a navy blue border. Very colorful compared to this one but no where near the value if this were to turn out to be real Prada. That would make it a great find for the monney !
Love the title!! That's so funny.
Pic could have been better. You should have put it on. ;);)
lol...still on the fence about this one being the real deal. Although I'm fairly certain it is silk. Aside from the burn test it's passed all the others I've found online.
