The case is dark wood with some brass inlay and a worn velvet interior lining. Three tools sit in recesses; a pair of scissors and two round handles whose tops unscrew and then can be screwed back in reverse onto the thread. These tops are extended holders for needles or hooks. One still has a worn steel hook type tool in it, the other is empty.
the handles are heavily tooled brass and are inlaid with turquoises.
I think this etui may be French as I have seen similar but less elaborate ones and probably Victorian. My father gave it to us over 30 years ago and it had been in the family for at least 30 more.
There are no makers' marks or other signs including on the scissors blades.
Saw the photo of the box and knew there'd be something good inside !!'
I agree with Kevin!!
