Hi also a recent pick up at local sale. I think this might be a WW2 German Oversea's type cap. It's grey in Color and has a pin on the hat that has some type of paint on it. Also cap has flaps on the side you can button. Appears there was a tag on the inside that was torn off. I'm not sure if this is authentic or a replica. I'm hoping if that it's authentic to identify if this is Panzer or another type of unit. Anyone that would care to share information it would be appreciated.

I don't know many German patches to have rolled edges so I'm guessing a replica.

I was told 95 percent likely to be a replica but the pin appears to be an authentic Reich Labor Service Female youth Pin.

This maybe a cap "liberated" from one of the occupied countries army stocks, this did take place on occasion, the trapezoid badge to the front does look like an original as these embroidered types did have a border to prevent fraying, although the tread used on this boarder looks a little too 'vibrant', one way to check authenticity of pretty much any item of clothing /stitching from this period is to get yourself a blacklight/UV torch, 99p on ebay, most modern threads will glow like a neon bulb when under the beam, especially white thread, best to be in a dark area when doing so, it won't tell you for sure if original but at least you'll know its a pre 1950's garment, there are some very accurate copies, made out of same type of materials and on original machines in eastern Europe, hope this is of help.
