Sherman Masterpiece, Pinwheel pin, Black Hematite, , Signed - the largest they made apparently.
Earlier this new year,2016, I went on to the site of the book " Sherman Jewellery, The Masterpiece Collection " and bought this pin that was pictured in her book on pages 68 & 71 and one other page with multiples of other colors. This is the exact pin she used for principal photography and was sold to me.
This one is Hematite and Clear stones which is a rare combination and the size and style of this pin is rare also. It was used and pictured in the book and she was selling it so I stepped up to the rather large price, as I know I would not find another one for sale. The pin is actually too big for the smaller Sherman boxes that I own, it is much too high, as it has 4+ levels to it, very intricately set stones ! The piece will fit in the large Sherman box only.
The last picture is from the book and shows the pin in situ. It is in the black jewellery section, as that is a rare colour for Sherman. This represents what seems to be my finest pin that I have, looking much like picture 3 and 4. I was very happy to get this pin, Jan. 26, 2016

There is a debate about that, Eileen, Some Sherman family members who seemed to pop up saying there were no unsigned pieces. Most of the family only came out to argue with each other and say nasty things. Probably Gustave had nothing to do with them, but there is too much out there and they did sometimes have tags on them. Most of the experts say yes and I say so also. The people who worked with Sherman sometimes most likely used some of the settings which were not marked. The book Sherman Masterpieces shows a lot in their section on unmarked pieces !~ I have the set that was photographed for the book and likely Sandra sold to me because she got a set with the earrings to match !~
What a lovely brooch this is! These clear-crystal-and-black pieces are just classically stunning. The perfect accessory for people who like monochrome fashion. Dazzling!
