This chair belonged to my aunt who passed away a couple of years ago. I always admired it as a child but was never allowed to sit on it. The wood is light, maybe oak. The back is tall and has flat and round spindles. The finials are carved corn cobs and above the spindles there is a face of a pioneer woman in a bonnet with a big bow under her chin and she is wearing spectacles. The arms are slightly curved and there are corn cobs on the front legs. There are also little balls staggered in rows below the curved arms and face on the back. The seat is padded and has been recovered. It seems like it used to be thicker when it was covered with a green velvet fabric but I'm not sure. It has a very folk-art feel to it and I'd love to know the story behind it.
