Very rare instance of an American couple using a passport application to travel. I would guess that they did not have time to get an official passport before they were due to leave. I have never seen this type of emergency passport before. Has anyone else?

New to me & can't imagine what reason for it.

I've known a number of people from diff. countries who lose passports (usually due to hurricanes) & their countries issue "One time travel" permits to return to that country. The application is to be accompanied with as much evidence & affidavits as can be produced.

Are you referring to U.S. procedure ? Most recent I am familiar with were all 3 British. Passports lost when boats sank in hurricanes. Arrangements were coordinated with SXM immigration. Went thru this with a UK girl who was living with me & later found that she had borrowed money & left her passport as "security".

Collector, I can ask around. I've got 3-5 of mine (U.S.), but like most people I know, we would be afraid of ID theft from us living. Might be a bit awkward. Hey, (?), do you have any old relative's passports I could have ? Any ideas on a more diplomatic approach ? Let me see what I can come up with. Never tried this one but doubt it will surprise friends. I had a Dutch friend in St. Eustatius who had his German passe with all the diff. work travel he did during the war & I really wanted it. Drop me a note on my email on profile so I can make a note & not have to try to remember who requested. I'm already thinking of several that you might be interested in.

Oh, Collector, that was Julie of Bedford. She later told me that when her mother picked her up in London, instead of taking her home, she took her straight to a detox ! Wise move that !! LOL !!
