this is only two inches by one inch. belonged to a crafter. is it for sewing?
looks like ivory. looks old. am told it may be a craft item.

Because of the 2 holes, I think it has a purpose. Now, to figure out what it is !
Thinking it could be a spinning toy ("toupie" in french), a thread passing through the upper hole is wound in several turns around the stick; holding slightly the toy, the thread is quickly pulled and the hole on the body produce a whistle sound while the toy spins.
