    i'd love it if someone could translate the Japanese on this box! i think it might have been for a very special liqueur bottle from the 50s or 60s. i've seen pics of some amazing ones from Japan!

      This is a tomobako and it is more likely that a n artisan piece of ceramic came in it.

      Yes, you will need someone to translate to find out what was in the box and by whom.

      i got a partial translation - 'Slender Bizen Ware'. so it held a slender bison! not many of them around!
