I found this brooch in the “junk” section. I realized it had a small mark on the back but I could not read it. I took my chances and when I got home I checked it out. The brooch is marked “Sterling” and “Jay Flex.”
Jay Flex was a Canadian company producing sterling and costume jewellery from around the 1930’s to about the 1960’s in Montreal. I am not sure when my brooch was made. Based on the style of it would guess it goes back to the 1950’s or 60’s.
The brooch is in absolutely perfect condition and the rhinestones sparkle beautifully.
Thanks for looking:)
Junk? Ha! Great find.
Agree, Efesgirl. Sometimes I get lucky. But it gets harder and harder to find a bargain:)
Thanks a lot, racer4four:)
Thanks a lot, mikelv85:)
If I am not mistaken Gustave Sherman worked for Jay Flex before opening his own company.
Thanks for your comment, PantheraLeo. I read that too. I also read somewhere that Shreman was inspired by Jay Flex. I am not sure if this was the case but what I do know is that both, Sherman and Jay Flex pieces, are very well made:)
Your brooch is very beaytiful!
I have a pair of earings signed Jay Flex...
The stones on my earings have the same shape at those on your brooch!
