    Found these tongs in a box of antique farm tools - have searched internet for any information on them & can not find anything. They are approx. 17 inches long - they open up approx. 4-1/4". There are no identifying markings or numbers on them. Any help or suggestions as to where to find out what they were used for will be appreciated.

      Fireplace or maybe antique Coal Tongs ???? as a Guess ??

      Maybe some kind of small animal birthing tool??? Maybe a goat or sheep.

      Birthing tools looks right. I was thinking ice tongs (ice harvesting was big in my area) but the shape at both ends look right for veterinarian use.

      If they are cast iron they are probably clinker grabbers. A blacksmith might have used them or even someone clearing a coal stove grate.
