Hi there CW Gang:
I had this for a bit and could not resist it for $ 25 bucks. Looks Art Deco to me, and has Dove-tail joints. It has character to it and was well banged around -- but that just makes it more lovable in my opinion....LOL. I LOOOOVE the handles on it. If you know anything more about the age, wood, etc -- would appreciate. Thanks
Thanks for LOOKING / and LOVING !!
~ Rose ~
Love this Rose :)...I've seen whole suites of this style of furniture at our Goodwill and it's always astronomically priced... per piece too. Sometimes they still have all the original real agate or bakelite pulls and inserts. My great grandmother had something similar. My Grandma got rid of it when she passed because she thought is was hideous. Dressing table, Chest, Bed, and Night Stands all gone. Replaced with the latest mid-century style of the time.
almost forgot....I would guess 1920's -30's :)
As far as I know the way of making drawers ( don't know the proper term in English) is old.If you aren't sure about the age of furniture look at a drawer. This is a clue I've heard from an old carpenter.
Love the handles so deco !!
Based on the last picture (the drawer) I would say 1930's or later. The top dovetail locks the side and there is a step down from the drawer front panel to the side. More importantly is the bottom joint. The front panel extends well below the drawer side and acts as a drawer stop.
