2 chairs recently acquired. I am unsure of the carvings in them and the etchings on the hide. The chairs are hand made and carved. Any help in letting me know about era of chairs would be appreciated.

Looks like French Renaissance chairs from the 19th century. Maybe from Brittany? A lot of the Brittany pieces have people and faces carved into them. Some of the Henri II pieces have faces and people as well.
