I picked up this little 9 1/2"x 12" print at Volunteer's the other day. It's mounted in a carved white wood frame. Only a couple of dollars and I thought it was nice. It's published by Stehli Brothers Switzerland about 1930 or so using their very high quality lithographic process that makes it almost appear to be a real watercolor. The picture is a home in the small village of Viazac in France. I actually found a current picture of the same home just a different perspective. The artist's name is Albri' but I can't find any listing for him. Stehli produced many artist's work but Nicolas Markovitch (pseudonyms: A. Marc & J. Philippe) seems to be the most well known and his prints do turn up at auction from time to time.

The Stehli Brothers company Stehli Frères, Editeurs, Zurich, Switzerland produced many lithograph copies of watercolors throughout the 1930’s and 40’s. The Stehli Frères lithos were usually printed on a nice heavier watercolor-like paper stock with rough edges to give the appearance of an actual watercolor painting and were done with very high lithographic quality at the time. The printing quality was so good that many people over the years have thought they were original works of art and many still make the same mistake even today.

Thanks Bonnie :) and very convincing too. I didn't have my magnifier on me and even though I know about these types of prints I still was unsure.
