    (1 item)

Purchased from an auction as "unknown wood carvings"
The items reminded me a bit of a Staff-God carving by the Rarotonga people, Cook Islands, central Polynesia.

Don't know if its related to African art or to the Oceanic region?

The items are approx. 210mm in length, 90mm wide and 20mm thick.

Any info would be much appreciated!

It looks more like a pair of printing blocks, used to print batik fabric. That would mean most likely Indonesian in origin.

that is a good assumption, but don't believe it to be a printing block for fabric. From what I could find on Google Images is that printing blocks are more ornate with details in the form of lines/leave/flowers, etc. Mine also doesn't seem to have any old ink stains on them. Also what is the purpose of the 6 holes on each edge then?

very much doubt it is of Asian origin.
