My wife wrote this for another media. I stumbled across your site here tonight and thought it only appropriate to share. Any info that you scholared Venetian glassware people have about this would be GREATLY appreciated! We know so little but we are in love with the art of these crafters whoever they my be..
We hear that every antique and vintage goods collector experiences a Shangri La of estate sales at some point in his or her excursions. We just encountered ours in a demure mansion tucked away in one of the most affluent areas of town, and these exquisite Murano goblets were our Holy Grail of finds. Amid a lifetime collection of treasures from all over the world - Venetian glass chandeliers, Murano glass sculptures, stunning jewelry, imported marble, china, and magnificent pieces of art and furniture, were these glasses. I asked the proprietor how the owner had come to acquire such an eclectic assortment of fine art, and she explained that the original owner was a multi-millionaire and that her husband had been a real estate mogul during the early 1900s. He and his wife had traveled the world with extended stays in Europe, particularly Italy, where many of their treasures were originally purchased. When they passed, everything went to the matriarch's sister, and eventually the niece inherited it all. An extremely rare and complete set of 12 Venetian Murano Salviati hand-blown wine goblets with gold leaf aventurine in translucent glass. The elegant bowls are supported on delicately blown swan stems attached to a round platform base.

I collect and love Venetian Glass as well. I have some swans-- but not a huge set like you!
