We hear that every antique and vintage goods collector experiences a Shangri La of estate sales at some point in his or her excursions. We just encountered ours in a demure mansion tucked away in one of the most affluent areas of town, and these exquisite Murano goblets were our Holy Grail of finds. Amid a lifetime collection of treasures from all over the world - Venetian glass chandeliers, Murano glass sculptures, stunning jewelry, imported marble, china, and magnificent pieces of art and furniture, were these glasses. I asked the proprietor how the owner had come to acquire such an eclectic assortment of fine art, and she explained that the original owner was a multi-millionaire and that her husband had been a real estate mogul during the early 1900s. He and his wife had traveled the world with extended stays in Europe, particularly Italy, where many of their treasures were originally purchased.
