This is a 1932 Burroughs Electric Carriage Typewriter. These machines are in my opinion, some of the most technologically advanced and beautiful of the 1930s & 40s typewriters. Aside from having an electrified carriage return and shift mechanism, it has chromium plated trim and levers, a wide carriage, and rubberized cylinder knobs. These are some of the features which made these machines ahead of their time. This machine was found in the mountains of North Carolina, and has all original paint; it even has the original Bakelite electric plug. Although Burroughs brand typewriters are not particularly common, especially in good working condition, they do pop up here and there every once in a while, and are certainly worth keeping around. I hope that this information will be useful to those who might find one of these and want some background information, and thanks for reading!
