This building was given to my grandfather by Appling County, GA. He received it when the old jail that it came from was torn down in 1969, the exact age of the building is unknown to us because the only people that would know is long past away. This building is from the first jail of Appling County. The first picture is of the complete front of the unit and the second picture is of the window where the cell mates were fed their meals while in confinement. The building is made of solid concrete with a solid iron door which is the only opening to the unit. Its obvious from looking at it that it is an old solitary confinement room which was not connected to the jail like the solitary confinement cells of today. The pictures do not do the building justice as the coloring, stability and aged color of the building does not come through. This building has no sentimental value to us because it is not longer used. It was used for years as a feed and tractor storage unit by my grandfather and we would just like for it to go to someone that will appreciate it and care for it like my grandfather did for so many years.

That's an amazing item you have! A shame it'd be nearly impossible for me to transport it to Baltimore!
