This design, commonly referred to as a "butterfly" knife was developed ca. 1800, probably in France, and subsequently made all over the world. Most commonly encountered "older" versions are WWII GI souvenirs from the Philippines, many of low quality. Despite the family history, because of the "Pakistan" marking on yours it is virtually impossible that this particular knife was made before 1970.
Thanks everyone, UncleRon's information help me to research it further and find out it's value. Made in the 1980's it's a Pakistan Solid Brass with Rosewood Balisong Butterfly knife. Now that I know, I plan on keeping it.
I have one exactly like this one from my granpa's house it has pakastan stamped into the blade
what did you find for the price?
